Tyrolean Blue Fitted Wardrobes in Maldon, Essex
This fitted wardrobe installation in Maldon, Essex was designed for a master bedroom in a new build home where the customer needed far better storage than the original property offered.
The brief was practical from the start: create a proper fitted bedroom layout with generous storage, a clean modern look and a design that worked around the existing bed and headboard rather than simply filling one wall with wardrobes.
The finished project uses our Blyton modern fitted wardrobe range, finished in Egger Tyrolean Blue U504 ST9, with Anthracite Linen interiors and antique brass handles and knobs.

The Customer Problem
The customer had moved into a new build property where the master bedroom had been left with very little useful storage.
This is a common issue in new build homes. The bedroom may look finished, but once you start living in the space, the lack of properly planned storage quickly becomes frustrating.
The customer had also looked at the developer wardrobe options, but these were costly and did not offer the level of quality, flexibility or proper fitted finish they wanted.
They needed something made around the room, around the bed and around how they actually wanted to use the storage day to day.
The Fitted Wardrobe Design Solution
For this Maldon project, we created a floor to ceiling bespoke fitted wardrobe layout that made use of the full bedroom wall and wrapped neatly around the bed area.
The design included tall hinged fitted wardrobes on both sides of the room, with a large bridging unit over the bed. This was carefully sized to allow for the customer’s bed and headboard, so the fitted furniture feels balanced rather than squeezed in.
We also included two bespoke bedside units beneath the bridge section. These help connect the whole design together and make the room feel more complete, while also adding practical bedside storage.
One of the hinged fitted wardrobe doors was made as a full height mirrored door, giving the customer a useful mirror without taking up any extra wall space.
Materials and Finish
The customer chose Egger Tyrolean Blue U504 ST9, a strong modern blue that works well with the simple, modern Blyton fitted wardrobe door style.
The darker blue finish gives the bedroom a more designed, furniture-led feel, while the antique brass handles and knobs add warmth and contrast.
Inside, the wardrobes were made with a full carcass interior in Anthracite Linen. This gives the inside of the wardrobes a smart, practical finish and makes the furniture feel properly considered both inside and out.
As standard, this installation included soft-close doors, drawers and internal drawers.
Fitted Wardrobe Internal Storage Layout
The internal layout was planned to give the customer a mix of everyday storage, including:
- standard hanging space
- long hanging for dresses and longer clothing
- internal drawers
- adjustable shelving
- overbed storage
- bedside storage
This gives the customer a much more usable bedroom compared with a basic wardrobe layout or freestanding furniture.
Installation Result
The finished wardrobes completely change how the master bedroom works.
The room now has a full fitted storage solution that makes use of the height of the room, frames the bed properly and gives the customer a much cleaner and more organised bedroom.
The Tyrolean Blue finish makes the wardrobes a feature of the room, while the mirrored door and antique brass details keep the overall look practical and refined.
