Four Matching Double Wardrobes with Different Internal Layouts
For this bedroom in Lower Green, Wakes Colne, we designed a run of four double wardrobes using our Rockingham fitted wardrobe range. The customer chose a soft light grey, or dove grey, finish for the shaker doors, with Egger Beige Textile for the wardrobe interiors.
The overall wall width was 3,867 mm. Rather than making each double wardrobe a different size, the design used four equal sections, each 925 mm wide. This gives the exterior a consistent rhythm while allowing each wardrobe interior to perform a different role.
The room ceiling measured 2,441 mm high. We designed the wardrobes to an overall height of 2,340 mm, which includes the 100 mm plinth. The wardrobe tops are therefore 101 mm below the measured ceiling height.
Starting on the left, the first wardrobe has a fixed top shelf with double hanging below. This provides two levels of hanging for shorter garments.
The second wardrobe contains a four-drawer internal chest with three adjustable shelves above. This section provides organised storage for folded clothes and smaller items.
The third wardrobe has a fixed top shelf and a central divider below it. The left-hand section provides single, long hanging, while the right-hand section contains four adjustable shelves.
Finally, the fourth double wardrobe mirrors the first, with one fixed top shelf and double hanging below. Across the complete installation, the different interiors are concealed behind a coordinated run of Rockingham shaker doors.
Our standard full 18 mm carcass construction, including solid 18 mm backs, allows the wardrobe internals to be designed to the required dimensions rather than relying on fixed standard storage modules.
